The narrowing of dendrite branches across nodes follows a well-defined scaling law

چکیده
Significance To study the systematic variation of dendrite diameters, we established a superresolution method that allows us to resolve diameters in Drosophila class IV dendritic arborization neurons, model cell for studying branching morphogenesis. Interestingly, do not follow any known scaling laws. We propose different law follows from two concepts: Terminal branches have smallest whose average is about 230 nm, and there an incremental increase cross-sectional area needed support each additional terminal branch. The consistent with growing tips making primary metabolic demand, which supplied by microtubule-based transport. If generalizes other it may facilitate segmentation connectomic studies.

the speech act of disagreement has been one of the speech acts that has received the least attention in the field of pragmatics. this study investigates the ways power relations, social distance, formality of the context, gender, and language proficiency (for efl learners) influence disagreement and politeness strategies. the participants of the study were 200 male and female native persian s...
15 صفحه اولTHE SCALING LAW FOR THE DISCRETE KINETIC GROWTH PERCOLATION MODEL
The Scaling Law for the Discrete Kinetic Growth Percolation Model The critical exponent of the total number of finite clusters α is calculated directly without using scaling hypothesis both below and above the percolation threshold pc based on a kinetic growth percolation model in two and three dimensions. Simultaneously, we can calculate other critical exponents β and γ, and show that the scal...
متن کاملTwigs into branches: how a filopodium becomes a dendrite.
A dendrite grows by sprouting filopodia, some of which mature into stable dendrite branches that bear synapses and sprout filopodia of their own. Recent work has shown that a filopodium begins deciding to become a stable branch within 1min of contacting a presynaptic partner, but what triggers this decision remains unknown. We consider the evidence for three possible triggers: activity of neuro...
متن کاملNodes, branches, and phylogenetic definitions.
Adopting the perspective of graph theory, Martin et al. (2010) described two kinds of phylogenetic trees, which they termed node-based and stem-or branch-based, that differ with respect to the biological interpretations of their component nodes and branches. After establishing equivalency between the two different kinds of trees in terms of encoded information regarding taxa and their phylogene...
متن کاملTornado outbreak variability follows Taylor's power law of fluctuation scaling and increases dramatically with severity.
Tornadoes cause loss of life and damage to property each year in the United States and around the world. The largest impacts come from 'outbreaks' consisting of multiple tornadoes closely spaced in time. Here we find an upward trend in the annual mean number of tornadoes per US tornado outbreak for the period 1954-2014. Moreover, the variance of this quantity is increasing more than four times ...
